City Church - Who we are

Defining who we are may be one of the most difficult tasks of the local church.  At best, we can only define who we are from the understanding we currently walk.  Yet, “of the increase of His government there shall be no end.”  If the influence of His Kingdom is constantly increasing, then we as the local church are changing as well.  Who we think we are, what we do, how we do it, what He has given us to do it with, all are subject to the limitation of our understanding of an eternal, omnipotent, omnipresent, omniscient, God.   We say all that to say that we readily admit that we do not have all the answers nor do we claim to be all there is in the local church.  Below are some thoughts about that we believe to be true:

About God we believe...

God is sovereign, yet loves us.

God is sovereign, yet chooses to work together with man.

The Kingdom of God is not the most important thing, it is everything.

God desires to have an intimate relationship with each person on this planet and is working all things to make that happen.

God is good...always.

God is eternal.  His Kingdom is eternal.

The father/son relationship is the paradigm on which His Kingdom hinges.

He does not want us to learn about Him.  He wants us to know Him.

God is in control.  He is not worried.  He is not afraid.  He has a plan.  He is working the plan.

About City Church we believe...

The most important thing we can do is seek His face.

Everything we do must come out of our relationship with God.

We are not THE church.  We are just part of it.  A local expression of the local church.

We do believe that Jesus has only one church.  It is His, not ours.

We must be about His business... His Kingdom business.

The Word is complete, perfect, precise, and totally necessary for the believer today.

About you we believe...

God loves you far beyond what you can comprehend.

God has designed you perfectly.  Sorry if you disagree with that but, you have to know that no matter how much life has handed you garbage, you are priceless.  How can you be priceless?  The value of something is determined by what one is willing to pay for it.  Jesus gave His life for you.  His priceless life He paid for you.

You cannot sin enough to get God to forget about you.  He is all about loving you and (no matter how much you run, hide, pretend, or ignore Him) restoring you as His daughter/son.

...the more we know, the more we find out there is to know.
